Software is often updated for many reasons. Some of those include:
- Bug fixes
- New features
- Security patches
- New ways to get your to pay more.
I put that last one in there because my current cell phone provider is trying to get me to pay to use my cell phones’ wireless hot spot as opposed to tethering it. Anything for a buck.
Windows 8.1 automatically checks for updates each day and then installs them in the background so the user is not disturbed. This feature has worked pretty good for me. Should you want to disable this feature, it is very easy.
First, go to the Windows Store.
Next click the settings Charm.
Now click App Updates
From here you can turn on and off the App auto update feature.
