Q: DFS Replication: in a Data collection set, when removing the data from the destination, does it remove data from the source?

Yes it does. The text in the course (6421) is somewhat misleading. 2 way replication is still happening. If you add or delete data from either the source or the destination, that change is reflected on the replication partner.

The difference between Multimaster replication and Data Collection replication in DFS is this:
- Multimaster allows replication between many servers.
- Data Collection allows replication between only 2 servers.
The advantage to this is you can utilize data collection for backing up data at a remote office. DFS is not a replacement for backups, but it is another tool in your arsenal.
