BitLocker is not only a good idea for safe guarding you data on a laptop, it also has value for securing servers. Since servers are not always put in secured locations in branch offices, having the ability to run BitLocket on them help to protect your data should the server ever grow legs. The thing to remember is that on Server 2008 R1, you can only encrypt the OS drive. On the R2 version, you can encrypt all drives.
